About Our Community
Full-Time Educational Program
The Treehouse ALC is a full-time private school program. Students participate in required instruction a minimum of three days each week through a combination of in-person instruction, guided collaborative learning, project-based experiences, academic workshops, and teacher-guided independent learning activities.
Interest-led, project-based learning is guided and facilitated by our instructors who we call guides. We have rhythms and systems to inform and engage families in our family-friendly community, but the school remains the primary educational provider for enrolled students. While parents are encouraged to join in celebrating their student's work through reviewing their portfolios and attending showcases and community days, our guides handle all the goal-setting, personalized learning paths, learning outcomes and documenting needed to help students progress toward their short and long-term goals.

Mission & Vision
The Treehouse is an Agile Learning Community.
Our mission is to cultivate curious, capable, and connected learners through meaningful relationships, real-world learning, creative exploration, and guided independence within a collaborative microschool community.
We envision a learning community where children grow into confident, compassionate, and self-directed individuals who can think creatively, collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, and engage thoughtfully with the world around them.

Who We Are
Hi! My name is Jennie Jones and I am the founder of
The Treehouse Agile Learning Community!
I have been homeschooling my 4 children for 6 years and for the last 4 years, I have been discovering the awesome benefits of self-directed learning. As I moved toward unschooling, I started my own self-directed learning journey into all things parenting, child development and education. My journey included lots of books (check out my recommendations here) and podcasts. After devouring all I could and observing the beauty of my own kids' learning journeys, I started coaching homeschool moms in my practices. Talk about project-based learning! Alongside my kids, I have learned to create websites, start a podcast (check that out here), and many other aspects of starting and running my own coaching business. All that time, I wished a learning community existed where moms could unschool together. There is so much value in people coming together to share ideas, inspire one another, have opportunities to teach what we learn and collaborate on projects.
In 2023, I decided to make that community happen. When I discovered agile learning tools (from another great podcast you can listen to here), they aligned so closely to what I had been developing in my own home, I knew they were the right model for The Treehouse. This is the first Agile Learning Center in Utah, but they exist all over the world!
I operate the community from our first family home in downtown St. George, Utah which is shaded by two huge trees from either side of the backyard. We have converted the entire property into a unique learning space where kids are encouraged to explore, create, experiment and play! We affectionately named it The Treehouse because it conveys the feeling of friendship, a special sanctuary where we dream together in community. We believe each child is a "builder" and we love teaching the tools that help them bring their ideas to reality. Each is a contributing member as we build our Treehouse!
OTHER FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
I am a dance educator and have taught in both public and private sectors, from toddlers to higher ed. I love to teach. I love to see things "click" for learners. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ballet from the University of Utah. I also served a mission for my church in southern Chile and speak Spanish. My human design is Generator. My favorite description of homeschooling is "Mom learns and brings the kids along with her." I love to learn. I love to be outside. I love to create.
MEET OUR GUIDES
Dustin is my husband, father of our four kids, and is excited to be a facilitator in our learning community. His work experience has been in construction and restaurant management (we owned a Kneaders franchise and he attended culinary school at UVU). He loves building, art, woodwork, technology, anime, board games, and has lately been trying his hand at A.I. art generation. He served a mission in the Philippines. His love of the culture stuck as well as his love of travel, but the Tagalog has been hard to keep up on ;-). He can still teach a great Tagalog song here and there and make some small talk. He is a lifelong learner and creator, and has an infectious enthusiasm when it comes to kids. He can turn everything into a game.

We currently have 4 other guides that help us bring learning to life as we introduce new skills and interests to our Treehouse kids!
